The Monster has lost his Beard!

Castle Donington Rugby Club Player Daniel Keeling who had cultivated his trade mark beard

for 7 years agreed to a Beard Off complete with a Viking Funeral to raise funds for the Joseph

Cooper Trust. "The Monster Loses His Beard" event was hosted at the Cross Keys Public House

in Castle Donington on Saturday 30th November and attracted an extremely large crowd.

Bids were offered for each segment of the beard with the moustache being the finale and the

Andrew Ridgway raises £1200 for the charity

Andrew Ridgway decided to run the Robin Hood Half Marathon in memory of his teenage cousin Joseph who died after fighting cancer twice.

Andrew said he signed up for the annual event in Nottingham only six weeks prior – after hearing that

Tracy and Mark Cooper, parents of his cousin Joseph, had set up a charitable trust fund to fulfil their son's final wishes.

The 14-year-old was in remission for the second time when he died in June this year.

Tracy, 49, and Mark, 52, of Castle Donington, said that they were hoping to hold four events next year to raise money for the Joseph Cooper Trust.

I was going to enter next year but, when I realised they had set up the fund, I knew I needed to do it this year.

Golddiggers donate

The Golddiggers are a local Castle Donington Charity who have been raising funds for various causes for the past 25years.

They initially promised to buy Joseph a laptop computer but have now decided to honour Joseph’s wishes by donating £400 to his charity.

Joseph fought cancer for six years and in a letter to his parents requested that they raise money and provide treats for children who are also suffering with cancer and to donate to some of the charities who had helped Joseph through his journey.
